Welcome to my wildlife and steam railway photography website
I am very pleased to be sharing my love of wildlife and steam trains with you.. (Steam train pictures are near the bottom of the navigation panel). The original of all the images shown on this website are printable to at least A4 size, some have been exhibited much larger.
My wildlife photography started by accident, literally, as I had been forced to take early retirement in 2001 due to a back injury 4 years earlier. No longer could I continue with my hobby of steam railway photography as I was virtually grounded. Following a back operation I had to build up my walking distance and it was then I noticed the wonderful wildlife all around us.
One afternoon my wife saw a different butterfly in the garden and suggested I take a photograph.
6 months later I had an exhibition of local butterfly photographs.
Living near the Rother Valley Country Park on the borders of Derbyshire and South Yorkshire, I found it the ideal place to get my exercise while taking my camera with me. As my mobility increased, my pursuit of wildlife and animal photos has taken me to places I would previously never have thought of, but wildlife is all around us and if we just took the time to look, it is all there for all of us to see. The majority of my photos are local and it just goes to show that wildlife photography does not have to be exotic to be stunning. The little chap above has a colony on the banks of the river Rother, 1 mile from my home in Killamarsh.
I have lots more wildlife and steam railway photographs, however I have only included those that are worthy of a stand alone picture. Please Note: If I take a better photo than one on the website, I replace it, so please keep checking this site if you do not find what you need first time.
