Some ideas for presentation of my Steam Railway and Wildlife Photos

It is often said in sales training that Presentation is 80% of a products worth.

There is one problem here, this website cannot present my wildlife photos in the same quality  of the full size image. For example, they are around 1/36 of the size of the original, less than that in many cases, and they are saved to medium resolution Jpg to assist in website loading.

So you are not seeing them at their best

Unlike many websites that list a host of wildlife images for identification or just to show numbers, I have only included photos that are high quality of at least A4 in size. I have lots more where the subject matter in the picture is too small, in my opinion, to produce an image suitable for display or full page magazine publication.

Also I have not included images that I call "cigarette cards"  as I find these boring and anyone can take them. However I have broken this rule on the odd occasion where the rarity of the subject justifies it.

The best way to present and enhance a high quality photograph is to have a custom made frame and I recommend a company called Picture Parade to bring out the best in a photo. A good frame is a work of art in itself and it makes me shudder after going to great lengths to obtain a high quality wildlife photo when someone just sticks it in a supermarket frame. Not only do they look cheap and effectively degrade the photograph, it gets worse,  they are only nominal sizes, so some of the photograph is lost at the edges throwing the composition of the photo out of the window.

Anyone involved in exhibitions will know all about board mounting, however as it may not be common knowledge here is an example: -

Exhibition mounted montage with information

This image layout is 30 inches wide and board mounted on 10mm thick lightweight exhibition board

In my opinion this suits an office environments or somewhere of minimalistic style, it does not need glass therefore it shows the full saturation of colours, particularly in this case as the insect is metallic, I have had it printed on metallic paper.

Any number of images can be added, with or without self borders and any background or border colour. Some of my photos look better totally borderless, however I wanted to show the actual size of the Demoiselle in this case.

I can tailor make any layout you choose
